We are a World-Wide Society of History Lovers & Historians based in Salem, Massachusetts founded 2007 as a public service of The Institute for Music, History, and Cultural Traditions (a 501c3 Nonprofit Cultural, Educational, & Scholarly Organization, founded 2006)  *** MEMBERSHIP IN THE SALEM HISTORY SOCIETY IS FREE* YOU MAY APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A RESIDENT OF SALEM, MASS. The Salem History Society operates a moderated online community, The Salem History Common where members discuss historical topics, get help with questions,

and share research and resource information.

We also maintain an online "library."
